kVA is seeking a Functional Safety Engineering Intern to join our growing team.  This employee will help to assure the safety of complex systems, in applications ranging from autonomous vehicles to multi-core microprocessors to electric vehicle powertrains.  kVA's experts are sought after by automotive experts worldwide as they develop advanced safety-relevant systems. The engineering intern will work with kVA's technical staff and established clients to develop verified safe products, using leading-edge technologies and the best available safety approaches.

 kVA internships are paid, temporary full-time positions, located in the metropolitan Detroit area and in Greenville, SC.

 Qualifications

We are seeking a Functional Safety engineering intern who can work closely with major clients to develop and assure safety-critical electronics. Partial completion of a four-year degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, computer science, or a closely related field, is a requirement for this position. Masters and PhD students are strongly encouraged to apply. The preferred candidate will have a strong interest in automotive technologies, and/or advanced microprocessor or software technologies for automotive application. The preferred candidate would have experience in engineering software and tools for embedded control environments, such as Matlab, Simulink, dSpace, LabView, CANape, HIL/SIL test environments, and related toolsets. Highly self-motivation, responsibility, and flexibility are required qualities of any candidate. The position requires progress on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
